Zander Bleck Interview – Battlecall

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 20, 2017 9:20 am Tagged With: Pop, pop rock, Rock, singer, songwriter

Zander Bleck-Battlecall

In this interview spotlight, we chat with Zander Bleck about influences, the latest project, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and the video for Battlecall below.

Let’s dive a little deeper into Zander Bleck, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre or style?

My style is a mix of all of my favorite genres in one. It comes out as some cinematic pop rock songs.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

Professionally the last 5 years! But right now feels like most exciting moment yet.

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

I write about all of life. I’ve had a pretty wild and turbulent ride getting to where I am now. I have been writing a lot about that. I keep getting better, and my voice keeps getting stronger, I think that’s what keeps me going. I also won’t stop until I feel I have gotten to where I need to be.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific with your single and video, “Alive”? Creatively or otherwise?

“Alive” was really about reestablishing myself. Standing up from the rubble of my last two deals that had fallen apart. It was a reminder to myself and the world. I am here, I am still Alive.

What was the last song you listened to?

Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang” came on while I was in the shower this morning.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

I’m an all digital kinda guy.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Love Spotify. I think everything they’ve done for music is awesome. People are listening to more music than ever.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

I think people’s attention spans are smaller than ever. To leave a lasting result you really need to go above and beyond.

Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you live?

Just finished a month long residency in Los Angeles and hopefully soon will be hitting the road to perform all this new music.

We hear your next single will be called “Battlecall”. What can fans expect from that single/ video?

I am super excited about “Battlecall.” We just wrapped the video and it is epic. I wanted to show my band and I in all our glory. I think it does just that. Comes out October 20th everywhere.

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?

Instagram and facebook are my favorite platforms. But I’m everywhere!

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

Thank you for the questions. You guys make people like me have a voice. I appreciate it! I think the next year will be pretty amazing. The water is beginning to feel just right and I am ready to do a cannonball.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
