Bio

AL-D is an MC and producer from Nashville, TN. He has been rhyming for over fifteen years and making beats for over ten.  He originally established himself in the Knoxville hip hop scene as a member of a group of Memphis natives called “In it to Win it”- founded by Nowenz.  He moved on to working on solo projects then completed a project called “Open the Mic” (2004) with long-time friend S.M.O.   Before leaving Knoxville to return to Nashville, he had collaborated with the likes of Black Atticus, Ether, Black Skillet Ro, Lil Nine, Lady Z, Ace and Starr.  Upon returning to Nashville he started making a name for himself producing and recording music with 187 Blitz, Kurtis Stanley, Kyhil, Ha Himself, E.T., Nam White, Apropik, I-Kahn, J Prodigal, Ahmad Rashad, Cashvillin, Boom Bap, Mic Wise, Top Notch, Chilli Sauce, Cole Jonique, Eloh, King Thai, Solom, 28, PM, Prophesy, Squikee, and Bill Breeze.  The first album released in Nashville was titled “this is what’s up” (2006).  AL-D was a founding member of the New Block Order (NBO) – which is a network of Tennessee hip hop artists.  He was featured on both NBO mixtape releases in 2007.  He also released a project with TN Jim called “Charcoal Filtered” (2008).  He has worked with producers including Gummy Soul, DJ Wick-it, Ducko Mcfli, Elevation, A7, Ghost Dogg, and Noisefloor.  His third release in Nashville was called “Time’s Hard to Save” (2009).  He has also worked with numerous musicians – most notably LST, who is a professional cellist currently working on a project with AL-D.

You can find AL-D all over the Nashville hip hop scene performing and promoting his own music and events as well as other peoples’events including The Boom Bap.  He had performed at 12th and Porter, BB Kings, The End, Lovenoise, Hebroots, Sound Therapy, and Café Coco.  His most recent release is a mixtape called “Vitamin D” (2011), which is hosted by the Boom Bap veteran DJ Rate.  Vitamin D was released at the first edition of The Milkshake – which is a dance party with short breaks to let local Emcees rhyme. It took place at The 5 Spot and was organized by AL-D.  Keep an eye out for the next installment of the Milkshake and an upcoming showcase called “Meant for the Milk Crate”.
