ARJUN Defy Gravity On Their New Release

ARJUN_GRAVITY

Did someone say ARJUN is back with another great album titled Gravity?!

Hold all my calls, reschedule my appointments for the next 2 hours, and let my wife know she has to watch the kids for a bit longer because it’s time to forget about this world and jump into the newest release from one my favorite improv-blues-rockin’ trios, ARJUN.

This is your first time hearing about ARJUN? Be sure to visit our past features (here and here) because these guys consistently deliver top shelf jams as spectacular and tasty as your grandma’s latest batch.

As the lead track Prince kicks off, I’m reminded of the greatness that can exist without vocals. As Eddie Arjun Peters’ fingers slide up and down the fret board with ease and the utmost precision, his lead guitar lines are the voice of these compositions.

Backed by a stellar duo, Lamar (drums) and Andre (bass) lay down the rhythms, accent the melodic dances of the lead guitar, and provide the foundation for one of the most amazing aural experiences you will soon encounter.

When Jeff Coffin whistles his woodwind with blazing speed through track 3, Run, you’re mind and spirit are elevated to another realm of sonic awareness.

I’m serious when I say blues, rock and jazz improv have never joined forces like this…until ARJUN hit the scene.

Slowing it down and giving our racing hearts a break, the trio joins forces with Cory Henry for an Ascent through an organ infused, blues guitar screaming one minute, jazzy chord running the next until the organ solo kicks in and our adrenaline levels are blasted through the stratosphere into a smooth Milky Way of intergalactic musical mayhem.

Holy balls batman, my senses can’t take it anymore! But wait… there is more!!

As the Ascent gently brings us back to planet Earth, the trio meets us at the Crossroad for one final thrill through the soothing back roads of home.

We soon take a turn and find ourselves beachside cruising through warm breezes as Endless Again grabs hold and dissipates our worries with a flurry of jazz infused runs as calming as the ocean’s waves. When the guitar takes the lead around 3 minutes 20 seconds, we push the pedal further to the metal and let the music take us where it may.

Moving on, we make a smooth transition into the blues infused lead lines of Blas. Two minutes in we find ourselves heading away from the shore and into a haunting but mesmerizing desert oasis.

A dissonance overcomes our senses as the heat begins to dehydrate us, we look to quench our thirst and the sun begins messing with our vision. Is it a mirage? Is that water up ahead? When will we make it back home…?

Just when the low fuel light blinks, we make that final push. That last barrage of frequencies to overcome all obstacles putting us back on track. Surviving the final moments of the sun’s exhausting heat, we move forward into the grand finale.

We have conquered the desert heat and now find ourselves enjoying the cool, refreshing night air. A full moon impacts the force of its Gravity on the final miles of our voyage.

We slow it down, reminiscent about our journey, and just let the music ride.
ARJUN has once again taken us through a sonic landscape closing Gravity just as it started… Leaving us wanting more.

Don’t forget to buckle up!
