Belafonte by Gregory Jerome

Gregory Jerome puts the “Reality” back into hip hop music without the mindless bravado or the need for ultra-misogynistic posturing. “Belafonte” strips away cultural differences and gets down to what connects us as humans whether it’s needs or aspirations, it’s universally connective music. “Belafonte” is a song that represents the trials and tribulations, protection of […]

SmiteMatter – Chapters

by Featured Guest March 24, 2014 8:17 am Tagged With: Electronic

So I’m sitting here in the media center of Local Community College, listening to “Chapters” while I write. So far, I’ve listened to this release about five times all the way through. And each time I listen, just for a fleeting moment I’m reminded of that night in 1976 where I had bravely eaten something […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
