by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 29, 2015 10:19 am Tagged With: Alternative, indie, Rock, United Kingdom

Figures

Essex (UK) band Figures is set to release their new project Unravel on November 15th but this group of high quality musicians was cool enough to send us an advance copy. Delivering a jammin’ 4 songs in the spirit of ’90s hard and alternative rock, Figures’ progressive sound is akin to a more light-hearted version […]

The music video was filmed by the Ashokan Reservoir and Cooper Lake, […]

Steve n Seagulls at Cannery Ballroom-008

I might be in Sacramento, CA but guess who was kicking major music ass last night at High Watt in Nashville…or so I heard? Usually something awesomesauce […]

High and Vibrate by The Persian Leaps

You might remember The Persian Leaps from our podcast. Below, check out their new visual for “Under The Lilacs” from their September 25, 2015 release High & Vibrate EP on Land Ski Records. Video directed by Jay Ness. “The Persian Leaps” began as a phrase singer/guitarist Drew Forsberg doodled in a notebook margin during a college […]

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 23, 2015 1:11 pm Tagged With: Americana, Folk, Rock, singer, songwriter

Kings of the Brushwood Thicket

Kings of the Brushwood Thicket sounds like an ensemble of what might be some rowdy pipers from the land of yonder but this simplistic, soulful, enchanting collage of frequencies emanates from the creative spirit of one Bruce Erik Brauer. As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
