by C Bret Campbell August 24, 2016 12:54 pm

buildusfiction -theyearofsteinbeck

Been on a kick of ’80’s sounding indie tunes and things off the beaten path today, and really digging on Build Us Fiction’s “The Year Of Steinbeck” – a record by Michael Shcenk of Cincinnati, Ohio.  “I lived in Santiago, Chile during 2013 and wrote these songs on an acoustic guitar while abroad,” says Schenk. I’m […]

red flag act

Got some cool tunage from Denmark! Red Flag Act rock y’all! C-J and I met about 16 years ago. It was the classic answer a musician ad on-line situation.  I turned up at the audition in a dindgy Edinburgh rehearsal room were there was one guitarist, one drummer…we jammed for a bit but started nothing. […]

Some of y’all know that Meri Amber is one of my favorite young indie musicians. She’s just got a completely different take on things that you can’t resist falling for. Let’s get to know Meri, the artist and your music a little better. What attracted you to this “geek pop” style? At first I thought […]

cecilee

Sometimes I forget that while I’m chatting it up with musicians on line some of their other friends and fans might not be able to stay in touch as closely. So, hey, let’s catch up with Cecilee Linke – it’s been a while since our last interview … Let’s get to know you, the artist […]

Cataclysm – Blista

by C Bret Campbell August 23, 2016 9:15 pm

Blista - Cataclysm - Cover

Blista – “Cataclysm” – a conceptual album about the end of the world. Cataclysm is a departure from Evan O’Malley’s previous releases, 3 EPs that were more electronic based. This album is more of a drivey psyche rock experimental album, paying respect to the trippy colorful sounding past releases but propelling Blista into a more interesting […]

Mike McGuire does it Again! Southern Attraction – Interview

by C Bret Campbell August 23, 2016 8:34 pm

southernattractioncover

It took me forever to write exactly what I thought of Mike McGuire’s previous record and he’s left me there again. But, this time around I have a point of reference, so here goes… Take everything I said about Mike’s last disc and apply it to Southern Attractions, then add some Tom Petty styling and […]

Jack R Reilly – Title Dictates Behavior

by C Bret Campbell August 18, 2016 5:42 am

jackreilly

‘These are the kind of songs that make you want to drink scotch late at night looking out into the rain and contemplate life.’ (Purple Sneakers) I read the above while looking out the back porch at the rain and almost switched from 6:30 am coffee to scotch whiskey… too bad we’re out of scotch and […]

Choose Joy – Interview with Jaclyn Bradley Palmer

by C Bret Campbell August 18, 2016 5:26 am

BradleyPalmer-2

People keep telling me that attitude and gratitude are a choice, and after a few decades, I’m starting to believe them. Jaclyn Bradley Palmer’s “I Choose Joy” hit my inbox the other day and I’ve got to admit that I’ve been a bit more joyful ever since. OK, so I have a soft spot for […]

“Someday” by Rob Drabkin – Breathtaking

by C Bret Campbell August 17, 2016 12:22 pm

robdrabkin

Um, yeah, you don’t find me stumbling for something to say very often. Rob Drabkin’s “Someday” pretty much has me there… Wow, I like everything about this tune. The lyrics are great and Rob’s voice is too. The instrumentation, arragement and production are (what is it the kid says) on point, and the whole thing […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
