Birds of Chicago Are Not Landing Any Time Soon

Birds of Chicago

J.T. Nero and Allison Russell have come together as Birds of Chicago to release their self-titled EP.

These two birds have been busy over the years and from what I can tell this union of musical talent was an inevitable occurrence in the timeline of their solo careers.

Birds of Chicago are at home on the road. Wings spread wide, wind in their face, and nothing but music.

…pick almost any night in the next two years and you can bet they will be in some festival, theater, pub, VFW hall, roller rink (they wish) or living room, dovetailing their voices, singing their songs of hope, despair, love…. and electric seahorses. And honey bee apocalypses. And ice cream.  It’s familiar and strange stuff – the everyday and the magical.

You can find Birds of Chicago performing as a duo or with the full family band. Either way this beautiful indie folk sound is easy to love.

Spread your wings and fly away.

Before joining forces, Nero and Russell each had their own bands. Vancouver, British Columbia’s Po’ Girl (Russell) and Chicago’s JT and the Clouds (Nero) collaborated extensively over the years.

But when they released their collaboration effort Mountains/Forests in 2011, it suddenly became clear there was something powerful and magical about the end result.

Now is the prime time to grab your copy of the Birds of Chicago EP.
