Black_Hart! Presents Book Of Marlon

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman July 9, 2015 2:09 pm Tagged With: Hip Hop, rap

Black_HartBe sure to go back and check my interview with Dark Empire’s Black_Hart!.

Black_Hart!’s latest album Book of Marlon packs a powerful Hip Hop punch into a genre suffering from corporate degradation and constant attacks from media (typically rooted in ignorance or misconceptions).

Refusing to release a song without some type of message, the 18 tracks found on Book of Marlon provide plenty of lyrical substance over hard knocking, grimy instrumentals guaranteed to have you jumping out of your chair and breaking your neck several times throughout this playlist.

[Tweet “I personally refuse to make music without some type of point or message.”]

Black_Hart!’s travels around the world and his experiences in the military give his creative spirit a unique perspective. If you can imagine Wu Tang mixed with David Banner, you’ll get an idea of what to expect from this album.

Commercial hip hop has set the standard for materialism and negative stereotypes that new artist pattern themselves after. As I was coming up you had your Wu Tangs, your Gangstarrs, Tribe Called Quest, and even Ice Cube. Gangster or not, each of them injected positive insight in their message. Today none of that is exhibited in mainstream hip hop. The message is left on the cutting room floor. I personally refuse to make music without some type of point or message.”

Considering Book of Marlon is packed with 18 tracks of solid Hip Hop, I can’t choose a favorite. However, a few tracks worth mentioning include “Time Machine”, “Beautiful Idiots”, “P.H.I.L.A.D.E.L.P.H.I.A.”, “My Vision”, “Rochester”, and “My Path”.

This album is a great balance between hard-hitting, classic Hip Hop and lyrical substance. This is a project Hip Hop Heads and fans can fully appreciate.
