Review: superHero Release The Middle – Now the true battle begins

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 16, 2015 8:59 am Tagged With: Georgia, Hip Hop, United States

superHero by The Round Table

I dig concept albums. It’s like a good audio book, only more exciting. You’ll definitely want to check our interview with superHero. Today it’s all about their album The Middle. The Middle represents the beginning of the true battle. Can superHero remain true to self or will they give into the pressures to conform to […]

Chop Suzy Release Devil Music, Don’t Let Your Faces Melt

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 1, 2015 9:02 am Tagged With: Los Angeles, Rock, United States

Devil Music by Chop Suzy

Trying to play catch up with all the music submissions over the past weeks and I came across this gem from Los Angeles rockers Chop Suzy. Devil Music is an intense, face-melting, neck-breaking exploration through sounds of pure, uncut rock and roll. In a world of sorrow, despair, and a lot of other bad things, […]

This Grain of Sand Dances With The Extreme Flute

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 14, 2015 10:19 am Tagged With: Canada, Jazz

Grain of Sand by Bill McBirnie and Bruce Jones

If you tune into the 5@5 podcast, you’ve heard a couple of tracks from Grain of Sand by Bill McBirnie and Bruce Jones. This record excites me mostly because it’s outside the realm of our typical submissions but more so because this Extreme Flute has kept my spirits high, mind focused, and mood uplifted for […]

Vocaliz Relases New Single Celebration

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 6, 2015 9:21 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, R&B

Celebration by Vocaliz

You might remember Vocaliz. We have featured him before but now I want to share his new single Celebration. Celebration is a very soulful and powerful song. Probably the best compliment I can give this one is that it reminds me heavily of The Roots. An uplifting, neo-souful song about celebrating life, Vocaliz has really […]

Everything Is Not Enough by Wheels of Industry

Let’s soak this one in for a moment. The band is Wheels of Industry; their album is titled Everything Is Not Enough. Now if that isn’t symbolic, I don’t know what is. Without even listening to this record, I’m excited at the potential of depth and substance. So what actually happened when I did listen? […]

Undercurrent by Michele McLaughlin

Michele McLaughlin is a self-taught solo pianist and composer and WOW did she do great a job at learning from her teachings. Undercurrent is a collection of 13 elegantly crafted instrumental compositions in the style of classical piano. This is the perfect album for playing in the background while you relax, read a book, or […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
