Hazard of the Die by Andy Palmer

“So much of our lives is a roll of the die. We become saints or criminals, monks or defendants largely because of what has happened to us and around us. A lot of who we are is out of our control.” Andy Palmer explains. Three years of being a public defender in Brooklyn, New York […]

Krystal Levenne debuts “Thinking Out Loud”

Krystal Levenne

Krystal asked for my thoughts on the production of her debut “Thinking Out Loud” and sent over a few tracks for review. I have to say, I don’t hear production like that from indie artists, often. With her sultry, but real voice she beguiles one to listen to her sweet song sung like honey and […]

Put Your Money Down! Boy Rekless – “I’m Gonna Win”

by C Bret Campbell April 4, 2013 3:27 pm Tagged With: Pop

I’m always just a lot nervous when I launch into something called a “mixtape.” Frankly, I’m old-school, man – a mixtape is something you put together with a dubbing cassette deck for the car… But a lot of things surprise me these days, like Rekless Life  from Boy Rekless, which is more like a short pop record or […]

“The Dreaming Society”- A Dream Come True

by Featured Guest April 3, 2013 6:56 pm

Imagine you’re all alone in the middle of no where, on a night so dark you can’t see two feet in front of you. Then, a thunderous force, with a flood of radiant light overwhelms you. You try to stand still but something is overtaking you, commanding you to force your fist up towards the […]

With an enchanting voice, an engaging wall of sounds, themes of love, loss, and solitude, and influences from her Russian-American heritage; Sasha is blasting through the music cosmos with something that will catch the star […]

Latest Gift of Tongues – Songs of My People – Twisted Surprise

by C Bret Campbell April 3, 2013 6:39 am Tagged With: electronica

dreams of my people cover

For me it’s always a gamble when I hit the button to spin something tagged “electronica” or “new wave” (although I have to admit it’s good to actually see that second one, having been a fan of the first wave). Well here’s one that landed on my favorite spot on the spinnin’ wheel,  The latest […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
