by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 2, 2013 12:00 pm Tagged With: Canada, Pop, singer, songwriter, Toronto

Songs for Sale by David Alter

When David Alter‘s 10 year old son told him, “This stuff is great, you gotta do it, you gotta live your dreams,” David listened. Not really into the sound of his voice, David Alter‘s entire world changed when he realized he could outsource the recording and performance of his songs to other talented individuals. Songs […]

Optic Yellow Felt

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 2, 2013 11:36 am Tagged With: Alternative, Brazil, Folk, indie, jazz, Rock, South America

Optic Yellow Felt first began its journey back in 1997 when the Nader brothers (born in Brazil but raised in the states), moved back to their homeland of Brazil. Being heavily influenced by the alternative rock scene in the US, songwriting became a natural part of the brothers’ lives. Optic Yellow Felt was officially formed […]

The Chase by Junebug

Junebug are a four-piece alternative acoustic rock group all the way from the beautiful lands of Glasgow, Scotland. In 2010, members Matthew and Owen decided it was time for a little experiment in acoustic rock. After that went well, it was time to diversify. The duo became a quartet when vocalist Katie Irvine and percussionist […]

Jonathan Ferguson is a folk-rock singer, songwriter, and excellent storyteller. Paul Koudouris Is Better Off With The Blues

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman March 31, 2013 7:53 am Tagged With: Austin, Blues, Folk, Pop, singer, songwriter

Paul Koudouris

“I’d rather call the Delta my home than on a high rise any day…” -Paul Koudouris Paul Koudouris is a man after my heart. His new album Twenty Something is a great collection of songs in pure bluesy, folk-pop fashion. Have I mentioned that this dude’s soul can sing!? A singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas, Paul […]

Singer-Songwriter Tyron Fatooros

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman March 30, 2013 8:59 am Tagged With: singer, songwriter, United Kingdom

Tyron Fatooros

Today I have something a little different from our usual band feature. Singer/Songwriter Tyron Fatooros was born in South Africa but found his way to an upbringing in Northern Ireland. The reason this feature is different than our typical articles is due to the fact Tyron has no polished, mastered album for us to listen […]

Paris New York Port Au Prince by Karlex

“Very often I say, I did not write my songs but they found me,” Karlex explains in typical humble fashion. Karlex has been referred to as the “Bob Marley of Haiti” due to his bold brand of ethno musicality. Growing up under a dictatorship didn’t leave young Karlex many options but to have fun. He […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
