CeCe Teneal Shares Her Heart and Soul with New Single “Try”

by Leslie Sherman June 10, 2024 5:37 am Tagged With: CeCe Teneal, singer, songwriter, United States

You may not have heard of the small town of Osteen, but you’re likely familiar with nearby Orlando. However, it’s the voice of Osteen-native CeCe Teneal and her new single “Try” that deserves your attention.

“Try” instantly lifts your mood. Beyond its feel-good vibe, the song blends the beloved elements of 1980’s pop with a modern, contemporary touch while retaining a real soulful essence.

While it certainly embodies CeCe Teneal’s signature sound, there’s something deeper at play. This track isn’t just about fun and entertainment:

“‘Try’ is a poignant melody woven with threads of nostalgia and hope, a heartfelt plea echoing through every note. It recounts cherished moments and shared laughter, a tender reminder of love that once flourished. Beneath the melody lies a daring challenge, a subtle invitation to defy time and resist bittersweet memories. Each lyric extends a hand, beckoning for a second chance, embracing vulnerability with confidence. It’s not just a song; it’s a testament to the enduring power of love and the courage to pursue it again.”

Beneath buoyant beats and dexterous digital arrangements, beyond the spacious soundscapes and CeCe Teneal’s sensationally soulful voice, lies a profound sentiment. Wrapped in a shimmering pop sheen and an infectious club groove, the song carries a message that life doesn’t always unfold as we hope.

Relationships sometimes fall short, and people we thought were “the one” may not be.

And yet, these experiences often leave us with a mixture of fond memories and some regrets. This sense of nostalgia threads through “Try”, prompting us to ponder: Can we turn back time? Do we get a second chance? Can we return to the past, and make things right?.

This highly personal and emotional album is expected to relate particularly with the LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities, who have embraced CeCe as something of an icon. Alongside her studio work, CeCe’s live performances have become legendary, captivating audiences with her raw authenticity and powerful stage presence.

CeCe has had the honor of performing alongside music legends such as Buddy Guy, Joe Cocker, Johnny Lang, Betty Wright, Cameo, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Jazmine Sullivan, Fantasia, Maze & Frankie Beverly, and the iconic B.B. King. Her acclaimed tribute to Aretha Franklin has garnered a devoted following.

Her global tours have solidified a fervent fanbase, and she continues to receive widespread acclaim. CeCe has been nominated for four Independent Music Awards, winning Best Gospel Song, Best R&B Album, and Best Soul/Funk/Fusion Song. She was hailed as Orlando’s Best Live Band, received the Orlando Music Trailblazer Award, and headlined the halftime show at the Citrus Bowl. September 22, 2022, is proclaimed CeCe Teneal Day in Orlando and Orange County.

With powerful vocals and an ability to connect deeply with audiences, CeCe Teneal solidifies her status as a global force in soul and funk, leaving a mark on the hearts of listeners worldwide.
