I tend to check out the bands who send press over, and am I glad we got this one from Elephant 12!  Their latest release, “Sold Out”, hit the desk the other day, and the UK band have topped themselves for sure with this a bombastic EP that completely kicked my butt!

“Love Knock On Wood” totally rocks! It’s a great pop-punk tune with a catchy vocal and cool guitar riffs with deftly blended styles from around the world. Check out Selling Out Fast – Knock On Wood for our review

Their music incorporates elements of rock, rap, and electro. The band has described their sound as “a unique hybrid of electro/rock with a punk attitude. As a band we push a simple lyrical message alongside a blend of musical styles and sounds without trampling all over the key elements that make our love of music so exhilarating.”

I’d say that’s a good basic description. The music on “Sold Out” definitely  has elements that can be recognized from the wayyyy back annals of rock history, but even the understated but pushing bassline in the opener sounds fresh, edgy and exciting.

This hard edged, but danceable, three piece band fuses the heavy guitar sound and the energy style of Rage Against the Machine with the rhythm and pop radio appeal of Outkast and Nerd. This is evident on their song “Love Knock on Wood” which incorporates a catchy rock rhythm with a pop vocal hook, demonstrating that Elephant 12 is perfectly capable of following any artistic path that interests them.

Rage definitely came to mind on my first spin, but I also thought of Hendrix and Cake, The Beatles and even the Beasties. All five songs on the EP hit me like a ton of RoKK!

Elephant 12 is Andy Metro who programs the beats, Robbie Pinna who plays guitar and Thelonious Jones on vocals… Aside from music, the band is inspired by human behaviors, relationship, spirituality and love. They have been exciting audiences this year with shows in Toronto, NYC to Texas… The biggest thrill for Elephant 12 is creating music from scratch, taking the initial concept of a song and seeing it through to a final product that audiences can enjoy and participate in.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
