Grab Some Cigarettes ‘n Gasoline and Head To Sea With Colin Ward

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 20, 2012 8:25 am Tagged With: Rock

Cigarettes n Gasoline by Colin Ward

It’s chilly and raining outside but with the tropical frequencies of Cigarettes ‘n Gasoline filling the room, I might as well be on a boat in the Caribbean.

On his newest album, Colin Ward takes us sailing through stories of pawn shops and beautiful days fishing around the Florida Keys.

Playing guitar since he was 12, Colin has been influenced by a wide range of music including greats such as Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, Chet Atkins, and Carole King.

Cigarettes ‘n Gasoline is a reflection and combination of Ward’s world travels, his love of the tropics, and his excellent songwriting skills.

Hailing from England, Mr. Ward has been living on (and off) Flordia’s west coast for the past decade. He has also traveled…a lot. He has lived in England, Ohio, West Virginia, Chicago, Texas, Washington State, the Bahamas and has visited all countries in North America, most of the states, most of the Caribbean islands, the majority of European countries, China, Japan, Russia and Hong Kong.

His song Wish I’d Never has been used as background for Good Guys on FOX TV, he has placed songs in independent films, and his music has even made appearances in radio advertisements.

“Songwriters have one thing in common with politicians in that there is an element of truth in everything they say, but poetic license is often used to make their finished products sound better.”

On top of his travels and songwriting skills, Mr. Ward is also an avid performer. You can find him on stage with his acoustic duo Blue Island Beer Club or rocking out with his band the Trop Rock Junkies.

No matter where you are in the world, Cigarettes ‘n Gasoline will take you to the land of ocean breezes, tropical climates, and a care free life. I used to be a Florida beach bum myself and I am having serious nostalgia jammin’ out to this record.

Thank you Colin.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
