Nashville’s Gyasi Brings Us Back To Classic Sounds with Rockin’ New Single Sugar Mama

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 12, 2017 1:00 pm Tagged With: classic rock, Nashville, Rock, United States

Gyasi

Get ready for the delicious, classic rockin’ sounds of Nashville’s Gyasi. Sugar Mama is the new single and it jams!

Deep in the Appalachians, a boy once thought he was a peacock. Once he realized he was merely human, he grabbed a guitar and began jamming along with the sounds that emanated from his father’s collection of blues 78s as well as the sounds of Velvet Underground and T.Rex from his Russian revolutionary neighbors.

This foundation of isolation allowed this peacock in a human’s body to bloom into a new era rock icon who serves as a testament and declaration that rock stars no longer exist…until you discover Gyasi, of course.

Sugar Mama is a gem that could have easily been uncovered in a time capsule buried in the 1970s but I assure you Gyasi is from the here and now. Delicious, distorted guitar tones collide head on with big sounding drums, body moving grooves and a vocal performance that could easily trick your mind into thinking you were just shuffled into a Led Zeppelin playlist.

Thankfully someone’s still making great rock music in 2017. Go jam Sugar Mama and connect with Gyasi on Soundcloud.
