IndieConnectNYC-July Gig Flyer-1NYC, NY – Indie Connect ~ NYC Chapter will present our Music Business Workshop & Artist Showcase, taking place at CakeShop, 152 Ludlow Street, NYC, NY on July 27, 2013 5-7PM. Featuring Cassandra Spangler, ESQ. Her presentation will be “Intra -band Agreements: The Musician’s Pre-Nup”.

Cassandra Spangler, ESQ is a 209 magna cum laude graduate of Seaton Hall and began her own music law practice in 2010. Prior to attending law school, Cassandra worked at independent record labels, a booking agency, and in music retail.

Cassandra has also been an artist for nearly 2 decades, which give her the unique ability to relate to both the talent and business perspectives of music industry transactions. She has been involved in the San Francisco Bay Area & NYC DIY music scenes for many years and understands firsthand the challenges facing independent artists and companies attempting to navigate the often-present power imbalance of the music industry.

Band performance by the New Jersey based band, Wyland.

Formed in early 2013, Wyland is an alternative rock duo based in New Jersey. Honing a unique mixture of introspective ambient rock with cinematic textures. The group primarily focuses their songwriting on tightly knitting together an analogue sound with digital. A combination that sets them apart from other contemporaries.

Hosted by David Pfeiffer, IC~NYC Meeting Coordinator & member of the band Monday Night Mistake & Diana Barnes, IC~NYC Chapter President & Artist Manager & CEO of Suede Management.

IC-NYC Chapter is proud to bring the 3rd workshop & artist showcase in our series of Summer Music Business Workshops & Artist Showcases to CakeShop in NYC.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
