Indie Singer-Songwriter Brodie Christ Shares Encouraging and Familial Single “Born Middle End” Ahead of Full-Length Album, Big Feelings (Oct. 15)

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Brodie Christ returns with a thoughtful and gently uplifting single, “Born Middle End,” taken from his upcoming record, Big Feelings, out on October 15th.

Warm, textured, and full of familial reflection, “Born Middle End” is a song about growing beyond the labels of your upbringing—and learning to be kind to yourself in the process.

“I was thinking about how comparison is the thief of joy,” says Christ. “I have a friend born two days after Christmas—imagine trying to compete with that—and another friend with a super successful brother. They’re both great people, so it got me thinking that comparison starts the day we are born and that it can be hard to shed.”

Built on Neil Whitford’s beautifully understated guitar work and lifted by rich organ licks, the track shines through a stripped-down yet layered production style. Christ is joined by powerhouse vocalist Elise LeGrow on the final chorus, with support from Mireya Gonzalez in the background—adding warmth and elevation to a song that embraces complexity with grace.

Although the song’s title started as a placeholder, its structure—three verses exploring different familial roles—makes it oddly fitting. “I was first born, I was the middle child, I was the baby—at some point, you’ve gotta move on from that stuff and figure out who you are without comparison,” Christ reflects. “And then you can blend those identities into a complete person.”

It’s a track that invites introspection, but also releases the pressure of getting everything “right.”

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
