Bilingual indie-pop duo Beau Nectar (singer-songwriters Marie-Clo and éemi) share with their first full-length English album Dandy, released alongside lead single “Artichoke,” a project that turns ecological collapse, emotional fatigue, and modern disconnection into something strangely hopeful, playful, and alive. Framed through the lens of personified nature, Dandy imagines a world where flora and fauna speak back; not as symbols, but as characters with agency, humour, and resilience.
At its core, Dandy explores a world “at war with itself,” where attention is fractured, trust is eroding, and creativity is constantly under pressure. Yet instead of leaning into despair, Beau Nectar reframes the chaos with irony and softness. “It’s all fine and ‘Dandy’,” the duo suggest, holding space for contradiction while inviting listeners to reconnect with the natural world as something alive, aware, and emotionally present.
- What can you share with readers about your new project?
Beau Nectar is a bilingual eco feminist synth pop music project. We met on a reality tv show filmed in Toronto for singer songwriters, and the rest is history. We’re both lovers of fauna and flora and find it fascinating to dig through history/science/lived experience to personify it.
- How does this release compare with your other projects you had in the past?
This is our first English album so it doesn’t really compare. We are entering a brand new space and market and it has been really pleasant and fun to tour and collaborate with this new world.
- What about this single makes you most proud?
We’re truly in love with the arrangements, and our vocal explorations within it. The song also has a really strong message; the earth will keep going without us, even while it’s overheating. It doesnt need us, we need to change. We compare earth to our lived experience as women.
- Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?
We just wanted to bring awareness to the way we keep treating our planet and how not sustainable it is.
- What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?
The fun of it, truly. The way it helps us alchemize feelings into songs, and the feedback and joy we get from seeing others relate to it.
- If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.
We are both really inspired by Sylvan Esso.
- What was the last song you listened to? Favorite all-time bands/artists?
The last song we listened to was Jaded by Maddie Ashman; a powerhouse young female artist with microtonal magic.
- Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?
Instagram and streaming platforms
- I really appreciate your time. Is there anything you’d like to share before we sign off
