Interview with Blow_Flyy – Bleed 4 You

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 29, 2018 11:13 am Tagged With: Canada, Hip Hop, rap

Blow Flyy

Blow_Flyy who from time to time Performs out of Toronto Canada, hailing from Halifax/Dartmouth Nova Scotia, is a new age artist with new thought process, he does it his way, for the Fans, that is with out rhyming, instead being a story teller. When it comes to the industry, he like most artists who are true to the game and themselves is ok Grinding pursuing his career solely as an independent artist so to keep full control of his own musical content. While many artists are looking & Chasing labels to be signed, he remains loyal to his identity and genre.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Blow_Flyy about his latest project, challenges, motivations and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and tell us about the relation ship with you and Toronto, and what would you call your style of music your brand which you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

I was born in Halifax nova scotia, grew up in the Largest Black community in Canada name North Preston. I was 8 years old when I moved to Toronto and lived there for most of my growing years, I would call my style of music, Universal hiphop, I like to describe it as universal because i’m apart of the hiphop culture in a Universal way, Now that hiphop here in Canada and the world its now more Universal then ever and I got something to say! My brand is something that reflects what i’m thinking my ideas

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

This is a gift from a higher power, this gift that I have, I didn’t choose.. this path, I just naturally took this path, put it this way I didn’t one day say I wanted to be involved in music, I feel I was born to do this, also coming from a talented family, what motivates me is my supporters, and me just not wanting my talent to go to waist with out at least trying to see how much $$financial success i can achieve with my musical talents.

How is this new release “Bleed 4 You” different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

With this song it’s just showing growth, and delivery, I always made records, complimenting woman, “bleed 4 you” is just another record for the ladies, I continuing to show that i am all about quality music, even as an independent artist with a very very small limited $$Budget.

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

Most challenging for me is staying relevant as a independent artist, with no major $$backing, still being able to put out music, do shows and promote and market, would be the most challenging, but my manager Gary Johnson jr. does what he can in that department, but we are always facing challenges as independents in this industry, and its always a $$budgeting challenge, and with all this technology it does help reach different people by using various online platforms.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

Music listeners and fans can connect with me and discover more music, at my blow flyy band page on Facebook and other social media sites.

Anything else before we sign off?

Just look out for me doing more Live shows in Toronto Canada, in the new year 2019, and just keep supporting independent artist like myself along with THE INDEPENDENT MUSIC MOVEMENT.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
