Interview with BreakingSolidGround – Fight

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 14, 2018 12:14 pm Tagged With: Asia, electro-pop, Pop, R&B, Rock, Singapore

BreakingSolidGround-Fight

BreakingSolidGround is a team of music producers based in Singapore. They have been actively producing their owns songs as well as covering other artists’ songs. In the past 6 years, the duo has released 13 songs. Their latest single, Fight, is now on all major platforms.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with BreakingSolidGround about the latest project, motivations, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create?

We are from Singapore , We don’t stick to just one genre but we do varieties of genres such as Electro Pop , R&B, Pop & Rock .

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

Music is something that we have loved so curiosity brought us down this path way because we were curious as to how artist do things so we tried it out for ourselves. What keeps us going is that we have good support from our fans and we have good reviews about our songs.

How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

Fight is a very unique song because its an international collaboration , we did this song with a vocalist from U.K and its mixed and mastered in the U.K unlike our other released which were all done locally, with the professionalism of this production
we are trying to get more fans onboard and we are trying to break into the international market.

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age. How has technology helped you?

One of the biggest challenge we have faced is that playlist owners of digital stores are very reluctant of including indie songs into their top playlist most of the song that they will include are songs backed by label thus not helping indie musicians. Technology has help us to collaborate with others worldwide without the need of being physically present at the location , one good example is our song”Fight”.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

That would be our Spotify page and Facebook page. Do check us out.

Anything else before we sign off?

We would like to request to all the readers to support our latest single “Fight” on Spotify and Apple Music.
