Interview with Bud Reichard – Insinuating Eyes

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 6, 2022 11:23 am Tagged With: Pop, Rock, Seattle, singer, songwriter, United States, Washington

Bud Reichard

Bud Reichard was born and raised in Allentown, PA, but he migrated to Washington back in ’70s where he played in various bands in the Seattle and Bellingham areas. After taking a short hiatus, Bud picked up his guitar again and recorded his first album titled “Back From Nowhere“. Bud then recorded his second album titled “King of Survival” in Paris, France with Ken Stringfellow of the Posies (who produced and edited the album). Bud’s third album is titled “The Next Big Thing” which includes a mixture of songs that he wrote while in Paris as well as new songs written in Seattle. Fast forward ten years and Bud has released “Insinuating Eyes” with a whole different perspective and direction.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Bud about the new album, adapting during these unprecedented times, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?

Contemporary Rock / Pop

How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?

I’ve been playing and writing music my whole life however self promotion has never been my strong point. Would prefer that my music would promote itself but that really doesn’t happen all that often I guess.

How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)? Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?

Wanted this project to be more straight forward rock music with guitars being the main focus.

Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?

My recording engineer shut down his studio for 6 months when this Covid thing started which postponed the project.

What was the last song you listened to?

Time

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms?

No preference although I wonder if anyone prefers Cassettes???

Where is the best place to connect with you and follow your journey?

On the internet.

I really appreciate Your time. Anything else before we sign off?

Hope you enjoy the songs and can help me get my songs out to the public.
