Interview with Decreek – The Circle

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman June 5, 2018 10:52 am Tagged With: alternative rock, California, Pop, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Decreek

LA-based rocker Decreek has announced the release of his brand new video for “The Circle”, the first single off his upcoming album My Story. The video gives us surreal vibes and depicts the singer carving a whole in the universe to come face to face with his future self.

Native Israeli Guy Johnson first turned to music after developing PTSD upon returning from serving in the Israeli military. Music proved to be his most therapeutic outlet, and he enrolled in an Israeli music school shortly thereafter.

After moving to the Netherlands and trying his hand at busking, Johnson decided he wanted to make something of his music career. In 2016, he moved to Los Angeles, where he released the final version of his debut full-length, Remove Those Feelings, containing the singles “Let It Flow”, “Decide”, and “Stop Being Quiet”.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Decreek about the latest project, challenges, motivations and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

I’m from California. I do music that falls somewhere between Pop/Rock ,Alternative rock

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?

My soul.

How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?

I do all music by myself from recording to production ,mixing and mastering this time i came to the production table a little bit more grown up .

Do you face any challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? On the flip side, how has technology helped you (if it has)?

To be honest I prefer the 90’s. But Im still trying to blend in with all that virtual communication.

Where can we follow you online and hear more music?

Facebook, youtube , twitter, instgram and my website would be my main social media.

Anything else before we sign off?

Thank you for this feature I really appreciate that!
