Interview with Max Chaos – Ride The Wave

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman July 24, 2025 9:54 am Tagged With: Metal, Rock

Max Chaos-Ride The Wave

Get ready to Ride The Wave with Max Chaos‘ latest single! This one’s for all my metal-heads that need their morning boost…or any-time-of-day-boost really. Turn it up loud and get ready RAWK!

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Max Chaos about the release, the forthcoming album, dream collabs, and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Ride The Wave!

Can you tell us about your latest release, Ride The Wave? Any cool back-story, themes, or inspirations behind the song?

Ride The Wave is a track that really came from a place of surrender—learning to trust the process, both in life and in music. I wrote it during a time when everything felt uncertain, and instead of resisting that chaos, I leaned into it. That’s really the core message of the song: when the tide pulls you in a direction you didn’t expect, sometimes the best move is to stop fighting and just ride it out.

What’s some of your favorite gear? Guitars, amps, mics, plug-ins, etc?

I’m a big fan or Ernie Ball Music Man products for guitars. Orange for amps.Shure for mic’s is the go to. As for plug ins there’s a lot of great ones out there, I really enjoy the Archetype Nolly.

Can you tell us about the production process behind this release? Did you work alone? Were there any challenges during recording?

Dan McConomy, and Maor Appelbaum were a huge part of production and engineering.   Justin on the drums a long time collaborator, and Karlos Medina bringing the bass to life on the tracks!

What is your earliest music memory? Or a moment that sticks out for motivating you to write, record, and release music?

Listening to classic rock cassettes in my dad’s cars.  Although I’ve been passionate for music since day 1, the writing came years later, which fueled a new fire of emotions within.

If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why?

I really like what the new band PRESIDENT is doing, I think we could definitely come up with a unique collaboration!  Second and third to that would be with Alexisonfire, or Underoath.

I know it’s hard…but favorite song (or artist) of all time? Or Top 3?

Underoath – When The Sun Sleeps. Slaves – I’d rather see your star explode

Atreyu – Lose it

Where’s the best place to keep up with your latest releases and news?

Instagram, Facebook, or Spotify. We have lots coming your way!

I appreciate Your time. Any last thoughts before signing off?

Yes, I just want to thank you, the industry in general, and our new fans for the opportunity to be doing what we love. For a brand new artist, it’s a surreal moment when you start out from zero and wonder if you are even valid as creator and performer. Just being here with you is a pleasure and encouraging. So thankful for the support. Hopefully, we meet again when the ORDER OF MAYHEM album comes out on Friday the 13th of February, 2026!!!
