Interview: M’Grasker

by Leslie Sherman March 25, 2024 9:53 am Tagged With: singer, songwriter

Human terminology might define M’Grasker as a “band,” however they would be more accurately described as Biological Property of M’Graskorp Unlimited Enterprises and Subsidiaries of the GlanGlan Group. Much of M’Grasker‘s DNA was salvaged from the backstage areas and bathrooms of seedy Toronto music venues and transferred via Scienetic Quantum Hurtlage to the M’Graskorp Labs, located just beyond Space and Time (and slightly to the left). The band is legally obligated to be happy to announce their third offering: M’Grasker by M’Grasker, an album scientifically guaranteed to blow domes later this year.

It’s the night of the big game and you’re hunched o’er vials, flasks, and doo-dads in yonder lab, beholding apparitions in the shimmering concoctions before you. A faint melody tickles your ears from the near-distance of the future – the rustling of M’Grasker. At this locus of the endless cycle, the loveable lads are no more than nearly-human goo, yet to take on the familiar bodies donned in the glistening white suits you’ve fashioned for them in your mind palace.

You stare at the roiling decanter in front of you, fixated on something in the swirling mists. A reflection of the room behind you darts through your awareness. You spin in your gyroseat. There is nothing behind you but the mad scribblings you left there 4 days and 20 hours prior. The lab lights flicker, “I’ve traversed the very fabric of scienetic planes, yet nary have I been quite so addled.” You think to yourself. These hauntings…

The following was submitted by M’Grasker’s creator Dr. Gorp…

What can you share with readers about your new project?

M’Grasker, the blend of psychedelic vibrations and harmonious undulations, nourished in Lab Seven. Their melodious vibrations shake the hardy cores of scienetics themselves. Their sheer audacity tickles me twixt my earlobes, their harmonious rhythms rippling through the ether like mangoloij-smoke! Alas, their unique flair cascades upon mine senses and resonates within the very core of my humong being.

How does this release compare with your other projects you had in the past?

Much like the M’Grasker of yore it contains all of the elements that make up a rocking (and rolling) stew, while serving up a delectable spice blend of freshness.

What about this single makes you most proud?

Ah, my dear boy, a question most pertinent! I’ve watched M’Grasker rise from petri dish to spotlight in yonder Lab #7. Tis pride as a parent would bear for their progenies – self-fashioned through the guide of my scienetics, mind you! The very essence of their chorus twixt the melody of “Specterphelia”, nary a sweeter serenade hath ever grazed mine ears! Ha! Prime stuff, old bean! Partook you in this musical morsel yet? Or perhaps tis’ still yonder path twixt future and now!

Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?

Ah, my bonnie, bonnie lass, the ultimate ambition of M’Grasker – it lies twixt an embrace o’ mechanical harmonics and the artful expression of a deep, universal truth! Their melodious sonnets intended to stir human senses whilst beveling down in merriment with a fat pipe of goij. Indeed, Aunt Molly would agree, were she nary interrupting our discourse with her incessant telephonic calls. Rascally Mr. Jeebs should answer thenceforth!

What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?

The undying love for mangoloij, resplendent sonorous vibrations, and the magnetic pull twixt them and a raucous crowd that can nary resist moving with their melodies—a primitive dance of jubilance, if you will. Their propellant force? Sheer merriment, my dear boy, sheer merriment!

If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.

Spectrephelia, M’Grasker. Favourite artist is tough.. in a pinch I think we’d say M’Grasker
