On The Tip Of Your Tongue-Cheers

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Nashville based rockers On The Tip Of Your Tongue. We discuss the new single (Cheers), challenges, technology and more.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

Nashville, TN and we create fabloo rock, in other words we allow no genre to define us.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?

Matt (our lead singer) was a solo artist who needed a band. Micah (our bassist) joined willingly, Logan (our drummer) took some coercing. Shane (our lead guitarist) joined recently because he wanted to make music with us. Our motivation is the hope of a brighter future and the trust that we’re making music worth listening to.

How did this new release form songwriting wise?

Well, Matt had many different experiences with girls that led him to writing each of the songs from deep emotional moments in past.

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age?

Releasing a record in the current musical landscape is like screaming into an empty cave and hoping that someone will listen, but finding your audience is near impossible at this point.

How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

It gave us the ability to reach many like-minded musicians and gig frequently through following local bands on social media.

What was the last song you listened to?

Micah: Good Intent by Flight Club

Logan: Lydia by Highly Suspect

Shane: How Soon Is Now? – The Smith’s

Matt: Joining A Fanclub – Jellyfish

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

A: We all perfer Vinyl

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

We’re all allegiant to Spotify despite they’re total abuse of artists they have the best algorithm for music recommendation.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

Our flourishing Instagram page.

Anything else before we sign off?

Yeah please make sure to listen to the EP when it drops soon. It’s called Sad Songs About Girls and you will not wanna miss it.
