The Queen of Waves is a producer based in the Baltimore area, crafting soundscapes that are raw, emotionally driven, melodic, and boldly experimental. A lifelong musician, her journey into electronic music began the moment she discovered psytrance—its hypnotic energy lit a creative spark that couldn’t be ignored. Inspired by genre-defining artists like Infected Mushroom and Electric Universe, and deeply moved by the presence and encouragement of her partner Autumn, The Queen of Waves brings both intensity and heart to her productions.
Get ready to feel the music. In this interview spotlight, I chat with The Queen of Waves about the latest project (When Worlds Collide), AI in music, earliest memories, and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Let’s get this hot topic out of the way from the start. What are your feelings on AI as a creative tool? Have you experimented with it? Or released any projects where it was used?
I think AI as a creative tool is awful as a whole concept alone. AI should only be used for things like finding cancer before it strikes, not doing the art we want to make which is often stolen from real artists.
What is your earliest music memory? Or a moment that sticks out for motivating you to write, record, and release music?
My earliest musical memory would have to be when I first started becoming a musician when I played Viola for my elementary school, then later on I’d learn to play the bass a little later in life which would lead me to finally learn the guitar.
What’s up with this latest release? Any cool back-stories, bloopers, or notable inspirations?
Well for starters it was meant to have way more songs on it, but a couple here and there got cut for the 3rd album I got cooking up. I got a few funny stories from the production of this album for sure, and one that comes to mind is how Euphoric Echoes of Infinity got made. It was fun to layer melodies together in one big harmonist track that feels so happy, energetic, and overall very welcoming to the ear. One problem I had though on making it was my licensing for my drums apparently expired before I could get a track of it. I had no idea it was a temporary license when I was using it, it was not specified to me that this was only a trial run. So I basically lost my drums and had to buy them back! I had to remake the drum track twice because of this. I also had to re-record the entire main melody to Cuntry Trance speaking of, because it was corrupted somehow and would not play anything past a couple measures in, which was pretty fun but inconvenient for me who was just trying to get this song release ready. Stirring form also had to be shorten in file size because it was so big that my distributor refused to take it, mind you it’s a 14min long song so it does make sense
What keeps you going, especially on the “bad” days?
Well the beautiful smile on my girlfriend’s face gives me life anyday, but to quote my song “Smoke it Away” I “smoke those bad feelings away” anyday
If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why?
It’s a real toss up between a few artists, but I’d say who I’d really want to collaborate with is Venjent. I feel like he’d be a great hang, and just overall an awesome person who I could learn a lot from.
I know it’s hard…but favorite song (or artist) of all time? Or Top 3 if you can’t choose one…?
My top 3 favorite artists would have to be Infected Mushroom, Electric Universe, and Berried Alive
Where’s the best place to connect with You?
For me it’s definitely Facebook, I’m very responsive on there, and I’m usually quick to do so.
I appreciate Your time. Any last thoughts before signing off?
I have nothing else to say except to everyone out there love is the answer love is the way, and stay weird.
