Interview with Saxon Jenkins – Some One To Love

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 13, 2022 12:45 pm Tagged With: Australia, Pop, pop rock, Rock, singer, songwriter

Saxon Jenkins-Some One To Love

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Saxon Jenkins about his music, enduring the worldwide lock downs, technology and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?

My name is Saxon Jenkins and I am 14yo from Melbourne, Australia and would describe my music as pop/rock..

How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?

I’ve always loved music and have wanted to create my own and with the help of my dad, I’ve been able to do so as he is a ex musician himself, I started to learn guitar from the age of 10.

How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)? Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?

Most of my previous songs were pop rock, this latest one is more jangly pop, when my dad and I wrote this song, we were going for a song about family and how everybody needs love in their life.

Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?

I’d say lockdown has been quite helpful really as it has given me more time to write, record and practice songs.

What was the last song you listened to?

Spaceman by the Killers

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms?

CD’s and vinyl but I do use streaming platforms like most people these days..

Where is the best place to connect with you and follow your journey?

On insta, twitter and YouTube
