Interview with The Brilliance – World Keeps Spinning

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 11, 2019 11:21 pm

In this interview spotlight, I chat with John Arndt of The Brilliance about the latest music, technology, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

We like to invite the listener into a cinematic jam of self-reflection.

What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?

David and I have played music together since before we could speak. It has always been a part of our friendship.. It’s a game we love to play!

Our music is never just for us. Every time we create, we are aiming to contribute to something much larger than ourselves. Each new song creates a ripple that impacts peoples lives in ways we can’t imagine. That experience continues to be thrilling.

How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?

Featuring full orchestra and choir with rocking production, World Keeps Spinning is sonically the most ambitious album we’ve made yet!

Do you face any challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? On the flip side, how has technology helped you (if it has)?

Modern technology is incredible! At the moment, I’m writing and producing an entire film score from my laptop! Our ability to achieve the musical results of our dreams are more affordable than ever before!

We have access to listeners and a supportive fan base without any record labels or big box retailers! It’s an incredible time to be alive making music!

Where can we follow you online and hear more music?

Just search for The Brilliance, wherever music can be streamed!
