Interview with Venchi Hef – Off The Top

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 2, 2019 11:27 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, New York City, rap, United States

Venchi Hef

Venchi Hef is a New York based rapper, with a very unorthodox style. His use of witty lyricism and motivation to constantly progress and innovate sets him apart from the pack. Using social media, Venchi is growing and spreading his music across the globe. As momentum builds, Venchi seems to be heading in the right direction continuing to release more music including a 5 song EP, Preseason.

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Venchi Hef about his latest release, motivations, challenges and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)

I’m from New York and I make rap music

What led you to choose music as your path and what motivates you to keep going?

I’ve had a passion for music for as long as I could remember, what keeps me motivated is my determination. I really want to make an impact on the world and inspire others with my music.

How is Off The Top different from your previous releases? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?

Honestly I don’t really know, I literally just made the song in a few minutes just messing around I didn’t expect people to react to it the way they did. I’m actually surprised

Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this over saturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?

My only challenge is my procrastination, I don’t really care about the industry being over saturated because my style and sound will always distinguish me from others. Technology has definitely helped me, especially with being in the age of social media. Im able to get my music heard all over the world and watch my fanbase grow more and more everyday.

What was the last song you listened to?

Venchi Hef – Too Legit To Quit

Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Well I started off with SoundCloud, so it’ll always have a special place in my heart.

Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?

What are your plans for the rest of 2019? More music? Shows? Any touring?

My plan for the rest of 2019 is just to keep working, more music, more videos, and more content for my supporters

Anything else before we sign off?

Thanks a lot, I appreciate you guys for having me!
