Interview with Bootleg Glory – From Canada to Nashville for Rock and Roll

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 12, 2015 7:21 am Tagged With: Nashville, Rock, United States

Bootleg GloryBootleg Glory recently made the voyage from Canada down to Nashville. Since leaving the great white north for Music City, the band have released a new album, BUDDY. You definitely want to check it out (no, seriously…you really do).

Below is our interview with the band.

What led a Canadian band down to Nashville? How do you like it?

Mainly to escape the frigged temperatures of the great white north. We also heard that the music scene in Nashville was booming, we wanted to be apart of that. No snow, tons of music? Frig ya bud!

You guys have been together longer than the average U.S. marriage…what’s the formula for the glue that holds Bootleg Glory together?

Duct tape, and when that runs out, even more duct tape. It’s fixed everything from our van to our instruments. That stuff is so strong, you could easily fix a broken marriage with it. You can build entire houses out of it!

Who or what influences the Bootleg Glory sound?

To sum it up, everything influences us. From every song we’ve ever heard, to every person we’ve ever met and every beer we’ve ever drank. “WOW! I feel real inspired after 15 beers!”

What was the last song you listened to?

Patrick Dorie – Goodbye Expectations.

What should we expect from this new project when we press play? How is it different from your last album?

Our new project will be the sound equivalent of Black Sabbath high on bath salts being given the People’s Elbow by Dwayne “THE ROCK” Johnson. Next question.

Do you guys gig in Nashville? Where can we see you perform?

We’ve played a bunch in Nashville since we’ve moved down, and frequently play at the Basement. We are playing there this Sunday Feb. 15th for the Sunday Post Show. March 5th we will be playing the Bridgestone Arena while the Preds destroy the New York Islanders. GO PREDS!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
