722 by BrownLet’s break the ice. Who are you? Where are you from? What style of music do you create?

What’s up world, I’m Brown from Nashville. Eastside to be more specific. And I would say that I just make music that any & everybody can relate to. Conscious with a bounce.

How do you feel about the Hip Hop scene in Tennessee? A small sect of you guys have obviously realized unity brings greater things landing a TN Stage at A3C Fest… I can tell you with confidence that moves like this were not happening in indie Mid-TN Hip Hop 5-10-even 15 years ago.

I love the scene here. I think it’s steadily becoming one of the best up & coming scenes out. It’s really diverse & each artist doing their thing at the moment has their own sound. I’m just happy to be apart of it all.

In my opinion, Kelly Hite doesn’t get enough shine for the amount of grind she’s been putting in over the years. How has she been shaping and affecting the Nashville Hip Hop scene from your point of view?

Kelly’s the man! Or woman, to be correct. But she’s been such a blessing to the scene here & has even helped me out, with certain pointers & advice. She’s great because she cares. People say they love the culture & support their local artists but there’s a big difference between saying & doing & she always steps up to the plate. Greatly appreciative of what she does.

What was the last song you listened to?

Boathouse Row by Grandemarshall & Asaad. Shit is so raw. Just some real deal rap shit.

Who or what influenced/motivated you to walk this journey known as music? What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced since starting down this path?

Last year, one of my friends unfortunately committed suicide and for me, it was a huge wake up call to just get off my ass to make this happen. I knew I had the skills but I was lacking motivation. That was the lightbulb going off for me. And the biggest challenge has been showing my parents I’m doing the right thing. Hahaha. It’s been tough since I dropped out but they’re finally getting the picture and it’s a good feeling.

Where do you want to be in 10 years?

In 10 years?? I wanna be alive for one. But in terms of music, if not “the best” doing it, one of the best. Simple as that.

What should the audience expect from your performance at the A3C Tennessee Stage on October 11th?

I don’t want to give away too much about what I might do or what tricks I may have up my sleeve but I would just say expect a really great time. It’s my first time actually performing in Atlanta and my first time ever at A3C so I’m thrilled.

What does this opportunity (A3C TN Stage) mean to you? How do you think it will effect your career from this moment forward?

It means a whole lot. Last year on October 11, I had my first show ever and a year later, I’m performing at A3C so this means everything. It just goes to show how much can change in a year. And it’ll be another stepping stone for me to become the artists I plan on being. I’m actually looking forward to the panels that A3C are holding during the week. I like learning so I’m excited.

Where can we connect with you online? Find your music?

I have a website, www.worldofbrown.com, & you can find all my music & videos there. Twitter & Instagram are @worldofbrown.

Any last thoughts? Shout outs?

Just wanna say thank you to my manager Derek Smith for everything he does. Love to my Mom & Dad & my siblings & um. That’s about it.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
