Interview with Daily Grind – #TourLife

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman July 11, 2016 7:25 am Tagged With: indie, Rock

Daily Grind

PA-based rock outfit Daily Grind are currently on their 4th national tour but the guys were gracious enough to give us a few minutes during some down time to answer the below the questions.

Find out more and connect with Daily Grind on their official website.

Introduce yourself to our readers and describe the style of music you create.

Our name is Daily Grind and we are based out of beautiful Pittsburgh, PA. We make rock & roll music.

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing styles? Also, what motivates you to keep creating?

Some of our major influences are the Chili Peppers, Incubus, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and Jack White. The list goes on. We write out of necessity with the intention of making people happy.

What was the last song you listened to?

Heathens by Twenty One Pilots. Been on repeat for the last two weeks. They’re on fire right now.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

It’s tough on the road to get people interested in physical CDs. Even my car doesn’t have a CD player in it anymore. Other than that, attention spans are short so we do our best to stay in peoples’ conscience without annoying them through Facebook/Instagram.

Do you gig, tour or perform through any live streaming services? Where can music lovers see you perform?

We’re currently on our 4th national tour and have just discovered going live on Facebook. We’ve only used it once so far from a bar in New Mexico, but we plan on using it to live stream shows when we can get a listenable audio feed.

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?

www.dailygrindmusic.com. It has links to our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and iTunes. It’s the main hub for all that is Daily Grind.

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

Tour and make music with the people you love. It doesn’t work any other way. Don’t give up if you know you have something special.
