Let everyone know who you are, where you are from and what style of music you play.

I’m Donna Frost, I was born in Franklin, TN and currently reside in Hendersonville, TN. My style of music? I have so many influences from all genres. I would say Americana.

What do you do for fun? You know…besides music?

Well, my life is devoted to music, most of my time is spent writing & performing, I’m on the road a lot all year long & play around Nashville constantly when I’m off the road. I am a full blown music geek and am a fan of many artists. I have a huge CD and vinyl collection. I enjoy shopping for vinyl! Of course, I love spending time with my family & friends. Photography is a passion of mine and I am always taking photos. I like to watch some sports, especially basketball, and my brothers, niece & nephews & I always play a few games of basketball when we all get together. I love taking long walks with my sweet dog. I enjoy a good book and a good movie when time permits! Swimming is my very favorite thing to do in the summertime!

What was the last song you listened to?

Last song I listened to…actually the entire “Full Moon Fever” CD by Tom Petty just now.

What did you listen to when you were younger? What do you listen to now? Have your tastes changed?

When I was younger, I grew up on the Beatles of course! The Rolling Stones. All things British Invasion. I also liked the glam rock in the 70’s, especially David Bowie. But along with my rock and roll, I also listened to the singer/songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Jim Croce. And I loved the classic country from the old days, especially my idol who I also got to work with the last 8 years of her life, Skeeter Davis. Two huge influences on my country side are Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. I loved and still love rockabilly too, The Davis Sisters, Carl Perkins, Wanda Jackson. What do I listen to now? It’s all over the place. I listen to old rock, new rock, old country, R&B, blues, rockabilly, you name it, I listen to it. Of the artists who’ve come along since late 1990’s, I’m a huge fan of Jack White and every band he’s ever been in, Amy Winehouse is my favorite vocalist of the past decade. The could have beens, such a tragedy. There was no one like her.

Was there an “ah-ha” moment in your life when you knew music would be the path you were going to walk?

Absolutely! I grew up in a musical family that goes all the way back to my great grandparents on both sides, my mom and dad sang together in a gospel group when I was born, I was traveling on the road with them 2 weeks after I was born. When I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan’s show when I was a little kid, that did it for me. I wanted to play guitar, sing and write my own songs. I took music lessons at age 9 (piano) and then switched to guitar at 11. I played my first paying gig at age 13, started traveling with my music at age 16, and have dedicated my life to it. It’s my passion.

How did you hear about Music Tree Fest?

I found out via an ad on Craig’s list last year and performed at one of the shows at Beans Creek Winery, I absolutely loved it.

How do you feel about being a part of Music Tree Festival?

I am so very happy to be coming back for this year’s festival and I’m even happier that I’ll be playing at Beans Creek Winery again. They were great to me and it was such a cool setting to perform in! Looking forward to this!

Do you have plans for Bonnaroo?

Not sure. I’d LOVE to see Paul McCartney again!
