Interview with George Aleman

George Aleman

In this interview we chat with singer/songwriter George Aleman to discuss his music and influences as well as how he slowed his music career to be present for his daughter.

Introduce yourself to our readers and describe the style of music you create.

My style of music is Pop/Rock and I am the singer and songwriter. I have been singing and writing for over 20 years but I put my music career on hold to raise my daughter. As a single parent, I didn’t want my daughter growing up without having a parent to show her love and to basically raise her.

I currently have 6 songs on Itunes, Pandora, Spotify, etc for sell. 95% of my songs come from real life experiences. I have been lucky to have a 4 time Grammy winning producer Michal Morales co-writer all 6 times. Mike has worked with people like The Rolling Stones, Cee lo Green, Beyonce, Aerosmith, and Def Leppard, to name a few.

On my last 2 songs, I had the honor of having 2 guys from the rock group Blue October play on my songs. Ryan played the violin on “I Will Follow You” and Matt played bass on “Please Bury the Sunlight”. You can see the music video with Ryan on Youtube. I have 2 songs on an independent movie called “Bullets for Jesus”–which can be seen on Amazon. I was hired to do a soundtrack for an upcoming small budget movie this year. I have 8,000 fans all over the world and climbing.

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing styles? Also, what motivates you to keep creating?

I love different kinds of music but I was influenced more by bands like Journey, Foreigner, Toto, Shinedown, STP, Breaking Benjamin’s, Three Days Grace, Creed, etc.

I keep writing because it’s in my blood and I love to hear the connection and love from the fans on how my music affects them.

What was the last song you listened to?

It’s never too late by Three Days Grace

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

Reaching to them and making them listen to it. I wish there were a website that you could download your music to and it plays to millions like MTV.

Do you gig, tour or perform through any live streaming services? Where can music lovers see you perform?

Not performing yet, but working on putting a touring band together at the moment. Hopefully by the end of this year or early next year will be playing out.

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

I want to Thank everyone who has helped me so far and who has believed in me- starting with my daughter, She is the one who sat me down and told me to follow my dreams–she is a big girl now–no need to worry too much. Also Michael Morales for co-writing and producing all my songs with me. the guys from Blue October, Vallejo, and John Reign for putting my songs in his movies.

The music business is not an easy thing to survive in but if you believe in yourself and never give up and get the fans to show that you have something–keep doing it. If it was that easy-everyone would be doing it.
