Interview with Prianca RA – Flow3rs

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 21, 2023 8:03 am Tagged With: indie pop, Pop, singer, songwriter, United Kingdom

Prianca RA

In this interview spotlight, I chat with Prianca RA about the newest single, AI in music, dream collabs, and more.

Full Q&A along with links and music below.

AI (aka Artificial Intelligence aka Chat GPT 4.0)… How is it changing the music world? What are your thoughts about this new trend?

It’s really blowing my mind! It’s so accessible and the free subscriptions offer so much and you think like wait this robot can write songs for me?! It can pick out better rhymes and other suggestions for me?!

Artificial intelligence has really helped me in creating digital art for my singles – I’ve managed to create four or five in a single day and they are so bespoke and tailor-made to what I asked it to do.

I think it’s really beneficial for musicians just getting started – whether that be songwriters or music producers – if you’re just starting out and you’re feeling really overwhelmed with the competition out there, AI is a supportive tool to help you complete tasks quicker and more efficiently. Whilst it has its uses there is no substitute for creative expression and that takes a human form, no robot can replace that.

Can you choose a favorite song of all time? Or is this an impossible task? If yes, what’s the song? If no, what’s your current Top 3?

That’s a toughie! I feel like my favourite songs change with the different chapters of my life. Favourite throwback song which makes me smile has to be My Girl by The Temptations. Second is Earth Song by Michael Jackson and a joint tie is  NUMB by Linkin Park and  I’m Like A Bird by Nelly Furtado

What about “FLOW3RS” makes you most proud? Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?

I wanted it to be childlike and innocent with genuine messages  (although the song has dark connotations, it is empowering and shows light at the end of the tunnel). Children go through a lot whether it’s at school or a turbulent family life but they pick up on things and can sense emotions and people really well at that age. I wanted to go back to when I was 3 years old – where I remember snippets and details. People around me don’t really know that at that age I was really close to my mum – she’s the most amazing woman I know and I was also really close with her mum, as well as her  brothers and sisters – their surname is Raja which means King in Hindi. In the song I mentioned ‘Royal love covered her always took care of her and made her feel better’ – mum and her family always took care of me and nurtured me . The FLOW3RS symbolism is essentially my way of describing how I grew into the person I am because of them.

What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?

I have always enjoyed writing and English was my favourite subject at school. I have been singing on the karaoke or singing to cassettes and CDs ever since I can remember. Then I sort of lost myself from the age of 11 onwards and for nine years I had been harbouring some deep trauma and emotional troubles. Singing opens my soul and writing helps unravel the thoughts in my head. However dark a place I’ve been to I have supporters who have helped me realise there is light at the end of the tunnel – to be honest right now I’m nowhere near there but I know it’s there so I’ll keep creating music to reaffirm that – and if there are any listeners who resonate with what I am talking about and relate or have lived experiences similar to mine then that’s a bonus.

If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out.

Freddie Mercury – the guy was just so ahead of his time and would love to unpick his genius thoughts, musical mastery and see it for myself. Bohemian Rhapsody and Crazy Little Thing Called Love are craftsmanship at its best in music!

What was the last song you listened to? Favorite all-time bands/artists?

Listened to Everytime by Britney Spears this morning.

Favourite all-time bands/artists who are around and I have on repeat are The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, A.R Rahman, Taylor Swift, Stormzy, Koffee and Forest Blakk

Where is the best place to find you and stay connected?

Instagram’s the best place to stay connected.

Also, LinkedIn.

I appreciate Your time. Want to say or plug any other projects before we part ways?

All I can say is my album FIRELAND is in full swing and I am in preparation mode 🤫. Thanks for your time and for giving me the opportunity to speak. FLOW3RS and all my other singles can be found here.
