Interview with The Clover Club – MusicTree Fest 2014 #MTF14

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 27, 2014 12:15 pm

MusicTree Fest will be taking place in Manchester, Tennessee – June 6-7, 9-10. We will be publishing interviews with the performing bands as we close in on the 3rd year of this festival. View the full line-up.

The Clover ClubLet’s start with the basics, who are you? Where are you from? What style of music do you create?

Dustin Rye – Vocals, guitar
Chris Campbell – bass
Shawn Jones – drums

We are The Clover Club, from the small town of MEwen, TN and we create good old fashioned foot stompin Rock and roll, with some blues undertones.

This is MusicTree Fest’s 3rd year. Is this your first time? If yes, how did you learn about MusicTree?

Yes, this is our first time performing for the festival and we look very forward to it. We actually heard about it through online advertisement.

Was there an “ah-ha moment” in your life when you knew you would pursue music?

Dustin – For me the true moment when I knew that music was what I truly desired to do and pursue is when my first band I ever played in won my high school talent show. Chris also played bass in that project. I remember having a great time on stage and the fact that the crowd really liked something that we created was an amazing feeling and it never left me.

Shawn – I always wanted to play in a band. Drums where the only thing that came natural to me.

Chris – I was 13 and some friends and I decided to form a rock band. I picked up the bass guitar duties and stuck with it. Even as a multi-instrumentalist, the bass is still my favorite.

Who (or what) motivates and inspires your writing and playing style(s)?

Dustin – My pops raised me on classic rock like AC/DC, van Halen, the police etc, and that type of music had a way with moving people and that’s what influences me the most. Music that makes you move and groove. I love the intricacies of SRV, and Jimmy Hendrix as well.

Shawn – Seeing people in the crowd getting into the music I’m playing. And just getting to be on a stage period

Chris – Chris Wolstenholme, Flea, Lemmy, Bootsy for sure.

What can we expect from your performance at MusicTree Fest 2014?

We intend to bring a good time and lots of energy to the stage.

Where can we connect with you online? Where can we listen or download your music?

Facebook.com/welcometothecloverclub
thecloverclub.bandcamp.com

This is where you can find us socially and listen and or download our debut EP we released in December of last year.

Do you have plans for Bonnaroo this year?

As of right now we do not have any plans for Bonnaroo bit things may very well change.

Any closing thoughts? Shout outs?

We would like to thank all of you at MusicTree for the great opportunity you have given us! Also Mike D, Jeff Fralinger, and Christopher Ott!
