Who Knows the Elusive, Enchanting Sounds of Iuliano? New Single & Video Now Available

Iuliano-Who Knows

Native to Italy but also familiar with Southeast Asia, alt-electronica-pop artist and composer Iuliano began his studies on piano but chose to explore the sonic aesthetics of electric and nylon string guitars for his newest EP Hidden Roots. The lead single and official music video for Who Knows is now available.

About his choice, Iuliano notes,

It was a deliberate peculiar choice made precisely because of not being a guitar player. This pushed me to explore ideas until I found something interesting, and then I free styled the melody.”

With a life full of musical studies as well as time in academia at Berklee College of Music in Boston and four years working with a small label in Malaysia, Iluiano is a true citizen of the world absorbing a wide array of cultural influences which find their way into his distinct blend of melodic exploration, harmonic complexity and an alluring falsetto that can, at times, come across as hauntingly charming but is always soothing to the ears while bringing a level of intimacy to the performance.

Another thing I really appreciate about Iluiano‘s approach to music creation can be found in the following quote; speaking on his creative process, he states:

Accidents are a very big deal in music, but you have to be able to hear them. Some people might take them as a mistake, but most of them will lead you, one way or another, to an interesting place. Normally, these are the places that I like to wander.”

Who Knows, the lead single from Hidden Roots, is now available in all digital music stores. The visual accompaniment takes us through a series of morphing images which transform our view of Iuliano’s performance into a kaleidoscope of multiplying heads. This growing collage of faces is intended to symbolize the lyrics while showing how we morph ourselves along the journey before we find our way back.

I started this project as a testament,” says Iuliano. “If something happened to me tomorrow, I would want to have something to represent me. All of the music that I have done up until this point has been just a compromise.”

You can also find the song on Spotify or Soundcloud.
