Nashville’s Jacob Thomas Jr. Produces Poignant, Beautiful, Acoustic Driven Music on Running Through My Mind

Jacob Thomas Jr-Running Through My Mind

Jacob Thomas Jr. has delivered a melodic, potent, raw, acoustic driven single that reflects on an emotional event in his life which brought this talented singer/songwriter to Nashville approximately a decade ago.

To dig deeper into the story behind his memorable, infectious single Running Through My Mind, Jacob was a pastor in Louisiana who was kicked out of his parish for playing too many shows in bars. Soul searching and life changes ensued including leaving his wife and moving to Nashville for some purely organic and soul-infused folk vibes.

I wanted to write about my divorce, but I’ve never been someone who’s able to articulate thoughts and feelings while I’m in the midst of extreme emotional situations,” reflects Jacob. “I find it more beneficial to wait until there is some time and space to gain perspective. ‘Running Through My Mind’ is hard to talk about. It’s one of those songs that reminds me of a period in my life when I was a person that I no longer am. It’s not a cryptic or vaguely written song. It’s about as straight forward as a song can get.”

The acoustic guitar tones are beautiful and sweet. Jacob’s voice is reflective, compassionate and engaging. His presence polished. His song crafting seasoned. Running Through My Mind is authentic, vulnerable and honest; appealing like James Taylor but with a healthy dose of contagious Southern grit.

Running Through My Mind is the second single from Jacob’s forthcoming full length project, Electric Sex, due February 16, 2018 on Summer Dress Music. The high caliber musicianship present on the new project includes a studio band consisting of pedal steel by Drew Belk (Billy Currington, Midland), producer and keyboardist Jason Morant, bass player Jason Harris and drummer Jake Finch. Ten years into his switch to Nashville musician, Jacob has played with names such as Rayland Baxter, Uncle Kracker, Sonia Leigh, Randy Montana, Logan Mize, Elise Davis, Goodbye June, and Danielle Bradbery.

-Random fact: I used to live in Louisiana, for a short time. Opelousas to be exact.
