Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

I grew up with a lot of musical influence, I was listening to Kenny G as a baby, A lot of Micheal Jackson and Jimi Hendrix through my teen years, and then dove into hip hop through high school.

I love all music, I make all music, I just wanted to push myself and my boundaries and work on a project in a realm that I have never created yet always listened to.

What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?

Learning about myself, and just growing as a person. As an artist I want to be a creator, in all aspects of my project, and I wanted the fans to see how versatile I could be an show them another genre of music they may not be exposed too.

Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?

Friends, songs I hear through parties, the greats. At the time I was creating WILDWEST I was jamming out to Guns N Roses, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Miguel, and Lenny Kravitz. My taste in music is always changing, i like what I like, if the record is good, it doesn’t matter what style it is, it will impact you.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

Push my own limits, as well as my listeners. Just wanted to show there’s more out there that I could do than what is Hype an trending right now.

What was the last song you listened to?

Tokyo Drift. I just watched Fast and the Furious Tokyo drift and decided to go drive around the hill I live on, so I put that on full blast.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

Mp3s.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Apple music, just love the lay out and the simple interface, plus the “Radio” feature you can use on any song is amazing.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?

Just getting eyes on me. The social media world is so vast that it’s easy to get lost in with everything else that’s going on.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
