King Gheno Taps Into The Subconscious Mind On New Single, Plan In Motion

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman February 27, 2018 11:24 am Tagged With: Hip Hop, rap, United States, Washington DC

King Gheno-Plan In Motion

Washington, D.C. based Hip Hop artist King Gheno has released a series of conscious singles he refers to as “brain train tracks”. Plan In Motion is the newest release. In Gheno’s words,

Brain train tracks are meditation tracks that are strategically crafted with affirmation to retrain the subconscious mind. The hypnotic hip-hop beats will help to put the listener in a receptive state that will then allow the listeners subconscious to receive the affirmations that are in the song.”

With 10+ years experience in the realm of music, Gheno started his career playing upright bass in his 4th grade orchestra. He graduated from Thomas G Pullen Performing Arts School and was soon auditioning for Baltimore School for the Arts. He was selected out of thousands of people who auditioned.

With his background and training in the ways of classical music, King Gheno is now focused on using his abilities to produce, write and record Hip Hop founded music which flips the script on the current onslaught of negativity and degrading content found in popular, chart topping rap/trap singles.

Anyone who knows me or has followed my writing for any length of time knows my love for Hip Hop and distaste for how the culture is represented and used by mainstream media. With that in mind, King Gheno‘s approach is warmly welcomed and something Hip Hop really needs right now. I completely agree with Gheno’s statement,

I have noticed that the only style of rap music offered within the Hip Hop community that is popular is music that is degrading and is essentially killing our culture one song at a time.”

Plan In Motion features all the sonic and rhythmic elements found in popular rap/trap music but King Gheno uses the platform to tap into each listener’s subconscious mind through carefully crafted frequencies which put our minds in a receptive state. Once our minds are receptive to the affirmations being presented throughout the track, Gheno uses his skills to grab our attention and nurture our souls with words of wisdom, love, affirmation and community (common unity).

A hard hitting, hypnotic rhythm sets the foundation for King Gheno as he raps these positive affirmations over an aggressive, trap-influenced beat that is guaranteed to grab the attention of listeners who typically gravitate toward the mainstream’s negatively charged counterpart to this particular style of sounds.

King Gheno has my respect and my attention. This is refreshing music and warmly welcomed art!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
