Maddie Wilson weighs in on AITP Online Festival

by C Bret Campbell September 4, 2013 6:44 pm

maddieBW632013picToday we got to know a little more about the lovely and talented young Maddie Wilson, who will be gracing our screens during the 2013 Artists In The Plus Online Festival.

MTM:  Let’s start at the beginning. Tell us a little about yourself. how and when did you start making music?

MW: I am 16, and I have been making music for about 4 years. I started out just singing, but slowly became fascinated with songwriting and making my own versions of songs. Music is my passion and I would love to share it with the world.

MTM:  Why do you do it, now?

MW:  I feel like there needs to be more good music out there with positive influences. Plus, I love it!

MTM:  What were some of your early influences and what inspires you today?

MW:  When I was a kid I would always listen to Alabama, Michael Martin Murphey and a hint of The Oakridge boys or The Eagles. Today I love listening to all kinds of music. I really love lyrics, so I constantly look for good songs.

MTM:  What was the last song you listened to (disc in the car or what-not)?

MW:  The last song I listened to was probably “Fall Into Me” by Brantley Gilbert. I was doing some homework on my computer so I was playing a little background music.

MTM:  How did you connect with Artists in the Plus and what attracted you to working with them?

MW:  They messaged me and I looked at their page on Google+ and liked what they were doing with music online and that they had a big following. John was very helpful to answer questions and everyone there has been really nice.

MTM: What would you like to see as a result of the festival, this year?

MW:  More exposure to my music, some new fans, fun and just being part of this big event and getting to know other artists.

MTM:  Have you been using services like Hangouts On Air, U-Stream, Street-Jelly, or others to perform live via video on line? What kind of reaction are you getting?

MW:  I did one hangout and I have used Stageit two times. The reaction has been great from listeners and it is a fun way to interact more personally.

MTM:  Village Studios in LA will be hosting the festival, this year and there will be a studio stage in North Carolina and another in Norway. Will you be travelling or performing remote from your own studio?

MW:  From my own studio in my Dad’s office, near the beautiful Utah Mountains!

MTM:  If you could ask one performer to join you on a record, who would it be?

MW:  That is a really tough one. I love so many artists that it would be impossible to choose just one. One that came to my mind was Brad Paisley because I love his little funny things in his songs. They always make me smile.

MTM:  What one thing would you change about this world, if you could?

MW:  To be honest, I wish there was less trash out there for teenagers to see and be influenced by. They are this worlds future. There are so many poor role models that it makes me sad. I think that if you have such a talent to be recognized by the world, you should use it to be a good influence.

MTM:  Where can we find you and your music?

MTM:  In closing, is there anything you would like to add or anyone you would like to shout-out to?

MW:  I would just like to thank you guys for all the time and effort you are putting into me, and all of this! I can tell its going to be a good festival!

Thanks for getting with us, Maddie, we’ll be sure to check out your show!
