Interview with Megan Rose – Inseparable

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 7, 2016 8:56 pm Tagged With: Pop, Rock

Megan Rose-Inseparable

Megan’s first singing debut was on May 12, 2012, at the age of fourteen years old, performing a two-night show at the Stanhope House Jazz and Blues Club located in Stanhope, New Jersey to a SOLD -OUT crowd directed by Nick Johnson, Concert Director, performing old hits from Guns N Roses and Motley Crue.

Megan has not slowed down.

In this interview, we discuss her newest project, her influences, and much more.

Full Q&A as well as links and a stream of Inseparable are available below.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

What really attracted me to the Genre of Rock, Pop, RB and Jazz, is the diversity of so many great artist before me starting with Rock, the Rolling Stones, Guns N Roses, the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Led Zeppelin. Pop, artist such as Micheal Jackson, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Katy Perry Adele, and Bruno Mars. R&B, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Jill Scott, Eryka Badu, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige and great Jazz artist and singers such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Nancy Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Etta James. Learning as much as possible about all these artist and different styles of music has allowed me to perform based on the people attending a particular venue interests.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

I first started sharing my music to the public in 2012, that’s when I had my first appearance with the School of Rock to a sold out crowd singing songs by Guns and Roses and Motley Crew. I then went on to perform that summer at the Highline Ballroom at Chelsea Pier in Manhattan NY and release my first CD album, “Live Your Life”.

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

Love, relationships, world events, loss of a love one, I also use daily occurrences to help determine what type of song I might want to write. It could be a song about someone in my life or something most people can relate to. I know music is a powerful instrument, so many people are touched by the sound of good musicso many hearts, so it motivates me to write or perform a song that would ease their thoughts.

My fans also motives me with positivity and give me the comfort to pursue my song writing.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

Yes. Since 2012 I have done Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, Country and I’m now 18 years old and I’m deciding which direction I’d like to go as a true up and coming artist as I enhance my career. I love playing the piano and my new song allowed my to write and do a single with one of the best saxophonist in the business at this time, Matt Cappy, which has led to a really good song called “Inseparable”. The song have a little Pop, RB and Sax to. I wanted people to see that I can take any genre of music and put my own little twist onto it. So on the project with, “Inseparable”, I wanted to show a little of my Pop, RB and Jazz side.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CD’s? MP3s?

Mp3s so I’m able to carry all my music on my phone. When it comes to my fans purchasing my songs it seem to be based on age.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

All honesty, I also enjoy Reverbnation, which also services my website. Reverbnation allows me the ability to listen to my music, keep in contact with followers, and keep up with new fans and ratings.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

I have a pretty good list of followers on my Facebook page and Reverbanation account and I also do well with Spotify and Apples Music and like most artists the challenge is getting more people to purchase downloads to Itunes and Amazon. The biggest challenge is making money in the music industry due to such low royalties payout.

Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you live?

Of course I do! But sadly I don’t do live stream. For any information on shows and where I will be performing next you can always visit my website at: http://www.meganrosesanders.reverbnation.com // https://twitter.com/Megan_Rose226

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?

The best place to contact me is on Facebook.

Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?

I would like to give a shout out to all my family, friends and fans who have supported me since the beginning. Without you I wouldn’t be where I am now. I also, would like to take the moment and thank you for giving me the opportunity to be interviewed by you and share my thoughts with you.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
