A product of Richmond, Virginia, Metallic Keem comes personifying all of the things our world has come to love about music. A hip hop artist with an arsenal of metaphors and experiences to create works of sheer musical genius that he himself has described as his realm of peace and therapy. Having been influenced by the likes of Eminem, Big L and Nas, one can only listen in awe as he seamlessly orchestrates a lyrical symphony with the backing of his awesome production team, Hyfin. In combination with all of these talents, his heart remains big as the ocean is deep, always one cracking a smile but never one to back down, hence Metallic. With his latest release, Maroon Angel making waves with recent releases for both the inspiring “SDTL” and the entrancing “6418 Cyrus,” Metallic Keem is sure to be a reoccurring name in the industry these coming months.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

When i was younger hearing my uncle rap in the music room attracted me to Hip Hop and later digging deeper into the genre artists like Eminem, Big L, Big pun, Nas, Meth & Red made me love the style of music i create & im still inspired by artists like Jcole, Kendrick, Kid Cudi, ect

What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?

After i started to rap the feedback i received and the freedom to express myself made me feel alive. I want to push it out to the public because the feeling i get when i hear music i can relate to or that i just enjoy is amazing and i want to give others that same feeling

Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?

Life itself and my son are the biggest influences for me and i wouldn’t say my taste has changed but lately ive really been fond of different genres of music as well like rock and country

What was the last song you listened to?

The last song i listened to was “Be Somebody” by Kings of Leon

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

I prefer mp3s because i love to listen to music in the go and to have it accessible on my phone whenever is awesome

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Not having an iPhone is going to make me cancel out apple music but I’m sure for most people that would be the one, but i like Spotify and bandcamp

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?

Honestly i feel like i connect and gain new fans from being out in these cities doing shows and meeting new people because there’s nothing like that face to face interaction and getting to know the artist as a person could make people listen to your music because they’re a fan of who you are but the challenge is a lot of the music today sounds the same and if your not creating that sound some wont want to hear it
