Mid-TN Music Weekly Wrap-Up

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 22, 2011 10:16 am

Three weeks after the launch of our site, we’re finally going to start posting our weekly wrap-ups.  This will give all of us a second chance to check out some great music.

Wrap-up… what an interesting phrase.  Part of me wants to break out into an old school beat-box reminiscent of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, but I maintain my composure.  Of course, some random act like this would definitely distract my children, stir up some laughter, and they’d forget about that toy they are fighting over…

You can blame Glee for the Marky Mark reference…oh wait did I say that out loud?

This week on Middle Tennessee Music

  • Josh Farrow and the Union Rail (Americana/Folk/Roots)

  • Song of the Week: ‘Concrete Angel’ by James Bell (Country/Acoustic)

  • You Do Not Want To Miss This Hip Hop Show – June 10th at the End (Hip Hop)

  • Unrest in the Nation

    • This is a guest blog from Small Barn Sound discussing the recent changes ReverbNation has made to prevent “fan spamming”.  Any band, artist, musician, or songwriter who is trying to use the Internet to market their art NEEDS to read this.
  • Sky Hi (Funk/R&B/Soul)

  • Moonshine Matinee (Rock)

  • Fourth Avenue (Rock)

  • Penguin (Rock/Pop/Jam Band)

As always, feel free to send us links to your favorite bands.  You can use our Contact Form, e-mail (midtnmusic@gmail.com) , post on our Facebook wall, or hit us up on Twitter.

Bands, musicians, songwriters… E-mail us your Press Packs (bio, photos, mp3s, videos, links) for a chance to be featured on this site.

We listen to at least 1 song from every band that is suggested so stop being shy and holla!

Thank you for all the support!

Since launching this website, we have managed to be amazed daily at the support we are receiving from not only the local community but from independent artists every where.

Sincerely, from the heart of one starving artist to another, thank you!

Onward & Upward

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
