Falling Water

Falling Water’s ‘Slow Down’ Is A Great “Release”

Led by Mark Rechler ( formerly of Circus Mind and Outhouse), Falling Water’s debut record “The Slow Down” is a Release in a league all it’s own.

Rechler’s soulful, somewhat scratchy vocals ride on a bed of atmospheric pianos, keys, and beautiful, aching guitar tones to deliver his songs straight to the listener’s heart. [Read more…]

A Modern Day Poet

As I listened to Grizzard’s record, all the names mentioned above kept coming to mind, and I was reminded of the sounds of  my youth coming at me over the radio. All it needed was a bit of static or the hum and hiss of a beat up turntable to take me home.

I was struggling with an introduction that involved something about a lost highway or traveled road, when “Gypsy Sally” came over the phones. “The road I’ve travelled …” sang Jefferson, while I began reading the bio on his web-site. Well, that sums it up, said I, hence the above quote. [Read more…]

The Lonestar State’s Joel Warren is back in the saddle and on a mission to fight Domestic Violence. How To Copyright Music In Canada

You own the copyright for your music from the moment that you commit it to a physical medium, be it paper, tape, CD or hard drive. However, to assert this copyright effectively, you must be able to prove that you are the original author. Your evidence must be strong enough to potentially stand up in court; it is not enough, for example, for someone to testify that you played a song to them at a particular time. Furthermore, although digital files contain information about the date on which they were created, this can easily be falsified, and so does not constitute sufficient proof. [Read more…]

Why Should I Copyright My Songs?

People ask me all kinds of questions; how to build a dog-house, or a people-house, they ask me how to clean a fuel injector system or pull a dent, how to spell acquaintance, cook ribs, tie shoes, how to play an instrument, record a song, pitch a tent, or build a web-site. I’m always somewhat surprised at the legal questions people ask me. I should have been a lawyer…

This post borders on legal matters, so let me assure you that neither myself nor midtnmusic.com are in the practice of giving legal advice either paid or free. I am Not a lawyer, but I would be more than happy to portray one on TV or Radio and am currently entertaining all offers. [Read more…]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
