Neil Gregory Johnson Delivers A Mix of Exhilarating Yet Comforting Blues-Infused Folk-Rockin’ Sounds On New Album

Neil Gregory Johnson-Extended Play Catalogue Vol 1

Some think singer/songwriter Neil Gregory Johnson might have been raised by a pack of wolves. Others think it was by a pack of wild musicians. Whichever story line you decide to go with, there is no denying Neil’s knack for immediately grabbing listeners’ attention with his roots rockin’ blend of elements from blues, folk and country music styles.

Neil has a pretty interesting story behind his latest project, Extended Play Catalogue Vol. 1. I will let him share it,

July 8th, I woke up and decided I wanted to professionally record a 5 song e.p. I started making phone calls and about 3 calls in I got a hold of Sean Flora (Cake, The Shins, Black Keys) and decided he was the one. From there I created a Kickstarter Crowdfund Campaign to fund the deposit for the studio, and also see if I would have any support. Much to my surprise, It was a success and In 3 days I had raised a total of $800 to fund a studio trip scheduled for the end of Aug 2017.

Working with his good friend Stephen Amari (bass), the two began prepping for their recording sessions with percussionist Nate Hanson. Bringing in Thomas Creveston (harmonica) and the delightful vocals of Shevonne Sayers, the crew dedicated over 100 hours crafting, experimenting and creating the final masters which result in the infectious, mood boosting, six track EP.

Neil Gregory Johnson shows up, rocks out and leaves us wondering, “where did this guy come from?!”. His pristine blend of folk, blues and country rockin’ frequencies is a worthwhile listening experience that will definitely lead to repeat listens.

Each of the six songs on this EP can stand on their own as strong, solid singles. My personal favorite is Three Days On The Wagon but I also really dig Losers Weep and Sleep When I Die.

Fans of a foot stompin’, roots rockin’ listening experience are going to become immediate fans of Neil Gregory Johnson’s creative expressions.

Extended Play Catalogue Vol 1 is now available from Bandcamp, iTunes and Amazon.
