New Bay Area band KCDC To Release Debut CD “Your Own Reaction” September 16, 2014.

by Featured Guest August 13, 2014 9:52 am

Bay Area songwriter/musicians Kwame Copeland (KC) and Deborah Crooks (DC) team up to form new band project drawing on their diverse Americana influences.

A California native, Crooks’ lyric driven and soul-wise music draws on folk, rock and the blues and is often compared to Lucinda Williams and The Cowboy Junkies. Wyoming-born-and-raised songwriter/guitarist Kwame Copeland was reared on folk and steeped in Dylan before heading out to California to forge his own brand of Americana. Born of a songwriting challenge, KCDC will release its debut CD “Your Own Reaction” a 10-song collection of original alternative rock and Americana music September 16, 2014.

On the surface Your Own Reaction is a guitar-driven batch of California-made roots music played by a veteran group of musicians who appreciate a good riff and an infectious beat. But really, Your Own Reaction is about putting your heart on the line, surrendering to love and taking responsibility for your actions. It’s meant for listeners who love real instruments and authentic writing; listeners who are seeking out truth and beauty in their lives and think this world deserves the best they’ve got.

Recorded with bandmates drummer Mike Stevens and bassist Andrew Gibson at Stevens’ Lost Monkey Studios in Hayward, CA, and co-produced by Crooks, Copeland and Stevens, the album is a truly collaborative effort with an album feel. All the songs were written as part of a month-long songwriting challenge and the basics recorded over two days in the studio. Songs from the collection are already getting notice: the title track was a finalist in the recent Earth Day Marin/West Coast Songwriters Song Contest.

KCDC celebrates the release of Your Own Reaction with an all-ages live performance at The Starry Plough in Berkeley, CA, Sunday, September 14, 2014, 4pm-7pm. Your Own Reaction will be available worldwide on CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon and other major outlets September 16, 2014.

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
