Pablo Embon’s Perennial Sounds

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman April 3, 2014 12:10 pm Tagged With: classical, composer, Instrumental, jazz, Piano, World

Pablo Embon Pablo Embon is a true child of (world) music.

Starting his journey at a very young age, composition seemed to come naturally. Piano and guitar eventually became his two core instruments. His education has taken him on roads through the fields of composition and harmonization (where he received recognitions for contests in Argentina.

Originally from Argentina, Mr. Embon learned about tango and Andean folk music. He also had the privilege of learning from famed classical guitarist Eduardo Isaac. He then immigrated to Israel where he became familiar with klezmer as well as Hebrew and Middle Eastern music.

By the time he arrived in Israel, Pablo was a seasoned musician who had used his younger years performing his unique modern and alt-jazz compositions solo.

Staying busy, Pablo released 11 albums between 2004 and 2012 covering a vast array of musical styles. Have I mentioned that he produces and performs all the original music himself?

His album Second Chances made it to the top spot in Nick DeRiso’s Something Else! magazine.

After spending some time in Portland, Oregon, Pablo found himself inspired to compose again and the result is Perennial Sounds.

A unique and refreshing take on instrumental music, Embon manages to blend jazz with ethnic instruments and orchestral arrangements. With 35 years of experience under his belt, Perennial Sounds is nothing short of top notch.

This might be more difficult to get into for fans of popular (U.S.) music. However, if you can open your ears long enough to allow Pablo’s frequencies to sink in… you will find yourself getting in the mood, turning the volume up a bit, and tuning everything else out.

Enchanted, Drizzle, and One Step Closer are some of my top choices.

Now in Israel, Pablo continues composing, performing, and producing as an indie musician. Visit his website and show your support, then connect on FB. You can find his music on CD Baby.
