Welcome To PLANET PARALLEL 5 and Meet Your Guide Jacqui L

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman July 20, 2017 8:21 am Tagged With: art rock, Australia, progressive rock, Rock

Jacqui L-Planet Parallel 5

Jacqui L is a scorpion girl who wears her eyes on her tail, is a native of PLANET PARALLEL 5, and will be our tour guide on this creative, captivating sonic journey through her homeland.

I am a big fan of concept albums but an even bigger fan of progressive metal which makes its impact through a multimedia, imaginative, profound listening and viewing experience (such as more well known acts Tool, Perfect Circle, Tori Amos).

Despite how difficult it must be for a scorpion with eyes on her tail to put on mascara each day, Jacqui L creates riveting, hard rockin’ visual and sonic works of art with ease.

Her music hits you right in the gut, her visuals fascinate the eyes and the depth of her lyricism provokes intelligent thought. This is not music for the weak and light-hearted. PLANET PARALLEL 5 is a serious voyage through pristine mixes, well crafted progressive songwriting, and the soulful, impacting vocals of the one and only Jacqui L.

It’s been a really long time since I have listened to a prog-metal record quite as awesome and creative as PLANET PARALLEL 5. For fans of this style, I highly recommend grabbing a copy of the album from Bandcamp.

For the full immersive experience, watch the video for I’ll Covet below.

Each of the 10 songs which make up this epic sonic novel stand on their own like paintings in a gallery. From the opening Happy Birthday to the grand finale Distraction, we are treated to a masterfully crafted, well arranged aural and visual experience.

PLANET PARALLEL 5 is much more than another album of music, it is the work of one very talented and creative scorpion girl who knows exactly how to take a vision and turn it into a reality.

The PLANET PARALLEL 5 Tourism Board (PP5TB) hopes you enjoy your stay and requests that you avoid getting too close to the trees…bad things have been known to happen.  Oh, dinner will be served at 18:00 PP5ST (PLANET PARALLEL 5 standard time).

Support Jacqui L and PLANET PARALLEL 5 by grabbing your copy of the album. You can preview it below.
