by Featured Guest February 19, 2015 1:18 pm Tagged With: songwriter

Nashville Rising Star(NASHVILLE, Tennessee) – Wild Wing Cafe in Franklin, Tennessee (545 Cool Springs Blvd #195) is excited to announce the next series of the popular songwriter open mic contest, NASHVILLE RISING STAR! Open to all songwriters of any genre, NASHVILLE RISING STAR is Music City’s premier songwriter open mic contest. Created and facilitated by Keith and Sue Mohr (mohrcreativegroup.com), NASHVILLE RISING STAR has a reputation as a top discovery vehicle for aspiring songwriters.

The contest starts Wednesday, March 4, 2015, from 7:00-9:00 PM, and will be held subsequent Wednesdays for a total of nine weeks. Each of the seven preliminary rounds feature up to 20 songwriters who each perform one original song. At each preliminary round, the audience votes for their favorite songwriter/song, and a panel of music industry judges also select their favorite songwriter/song. Each preliminary winner receives a $25 Wild Wing Cafe gift certificate.

The semi-final round will be held on Wednesday, April 22, from 7:00-9:00 PM, featuring 14 preliminary round winners. The audience selects one writer, and the music industry panel selects three additional writers to move on to the final round. At the final round, to be held on Wednesday, April 29 from 7:00-9:00 PM, the four finalists will perform four songs each. The grand prize winner, who will be selected by a combination of audience and music industry votes, will receive $500 cash from Wild Wing Cafe, and other career advancing prizes provided by event sponsors.

NASHVILLE RISING STAR creator Keith Mohr states, “We’ve been holding this event at various venues for the past six years, and we love Wild Wing Cafe. It has the best stage and production for live music in the area, and the food is fantastic. NASHVILLE RISING STAR is a great way to discover up and coming talent way before anyone else! This event is all about the song!”

Wild Wing Café’s General Manager, Rudi Hedge, states, “It’s been a pleasure to open up our stage and hear new songs by up and coming songwriters. This is a unique event that we are happy to host and support! We look forward to it!”

Songwriters:
This songwriter open mic contest is open to anyone who writes original songs! There are no auditions, simply walk in, signup and share your song in front of people who want to hear what you have written. Win cash and prizes, make industry connections, forge songwriter friendships, and create new fans. Our audience is attentive because they vote for their favorite song! Our music industry leaders also listen closely and vote for their favorite song and provide feedback at the end of the event (if you want it). Previous contestants have seen great success, including Colton Dixon, who signed with EMI and tours internationally. Calynn Green, who recently signed with Warner Music Group, and Dani Elliott tours with Miley Cyrus as a background vocalist as a result of our direct connection. So why sit at home wishing that you could get discovered, when you have the opportunity to be discovered at NASHVILLE RISING STAR? It all starts with you coming out and sharing your song!

Fans:
Be a part of the event! The audience votes for their favorite song through ballots that are made available, and gets to hear hits before they hit! Make it a weekly fun night out listening to talented songwriters, and partake of the fantastic food and drink. Wild Wing Cafe is a great place to hear live music!

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
